VOLUNTEER

We are seeking volunteers to support our work in the following areas:

Conversation Cafes

Volunteer as a lead speaker on a topic you are comfortable discussing in a small group and share your life experience with our youth audience.

Project No Excuses

We need individuals and corporate sponsors for this holistic scholarship project. Click here for more information

ICT Classes

We are looking for ICT professionals with skills in coding, web design and graphic design to support our Computer Literacy classes.

Life Skills Facilitators

Life skills are the tools young people need to succeed in life that are not taught in school. They are aimed at developing young people’s knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and sense of responsibility and health consciousness. We need volunteers to facilitate curriculum-based sessions once a week, using a theory to practice methodology.

Sports for Development

Can you teach sports? We use sports to teach life skills, time management and team building to adolescents. We currently hold taekwondo and swimming classes but are open to working with you on any appropriate sport that would benefit our members.

Job Placements

This initiative gives young adults the opportunity to work in a professional environment for a few weeks over the summer holidays. It allows our Youth Centre members to gain valuable experience of a structured work environment and build relationships with individuals who can inspire and motivate them. Please contact us if you can offer one or more of our members an opportunity in your organisation.

Mobile Reading Facilitators

We need guest reviewers of books to facilitate small group sessions with children. These are lively sessions during which the facilitator discusses the books with the children and engages them in interactive conversations. The facilitator helps to track vocabulary, comprehension and conducts summary writing sessions.

Literacy and Numeracy Facilitators

Our literacy and numeracy classes are held throughout the year and we are looking for volunteers to facilitate these sessions, using structured curricula. As all our new members undergo this training, classes consist of 15 to 20 in-school children per training session held during school terms.
