We are very proud of the Ovie Brume Foundation Alumni, who through their personal and professional achievements reflect the positive impact that our programmes can have on young people. Many alumni continue to be actively engaged with our work, leading vocational skills workshops, holding career development and motivational talks and facilitating classes.
Ovie Brume Foundation Alumni
Nasir:
Ahmed Nasir is the Executive Chef and CEO of Nascogrills. His Ovie Brume Foundation experience began in 2003, when he was in SS2. When his friend Aliyu Mustapha encouraged him to join the Youth Centre he was initially reluctant but once he finally visited he was inspired by the programmes and activities on offer, the rules and regulations guiding them, the mandatory dress code, use of language, time of resumption and so forth. He began to visit the Youth Centre almost every day.
During his time as a member of the Youth Centre, he learned Literacy and communication skills, photography and how to use a computer. He was also taught to be disciplined and to be deliberate in setting his life goals and creating a plan to achieve them. It was during this process that the idea of taking cooking to the next level was born and after secondary school he enrolled at Yaba College of Technology to study Hospitality Management. Today he is a graduate and the Executive Chef of Nasco Grills, with more than a decade of experience in the hospitality industry.
Ahmed Nasir believes that Ovie Brume Foundation helped shape his today. Since he began his journey in the food industry, he has found himself at the top of his game. He has won numerous awards and competitions including the Chop Chop Cooking Competition on Wazobia TV and the the award for Best Chef in Hospitality Yaba Tech 2015. As an alumni, he often returns to the Youth Centre to teach the younger generation about his profession.
Our ultimate goal is to help the young people maximise their potential and grow up to be valuable members of society who can contribute to the development of their communities.
Sponsor A Child Today”
We seek sponsors to support beneficiaries of the scheme for the duration of their primary or secondary school education. This is a long-term commitment that ensures the project’s sustainability. A child is therefore supported throughout his/her stay in primary or secondary school. The sponsor will provide the funds to Ovie Brume Foundation on an annual basis, and the Foundation will administer the funds to the scholarship recipient. Sponsors are therefore encouraged to support a child for at least two years or the duration of his/her primary or secondary education.
