Making Things with Our Hands

Project 20 Hands On began in May 2023, and the project name reflects both our journey and our purpose. The “20” signifies the year we stepped into this vision, and “Hands On” speaks to the dedication and craftsmanship poured into every piece we create. Every product is handmade with care by members of the Ovie Brume Foundation, carrying with it the spirit of creativity, resilience, and growth.

What started as a simple idea, inspired by our Chairperson, Dr. Evelyn Ndali Oputu, quickly became something bigger than we ever imagined. From crafting just one item, we grew—first to ten, then twenty, and before long, we found ourselves expanding into new creative spaces. Woven Ankara baskets and throw pillows were just the beginning. Soon, we found ourselves exploring sustainable materials, transforming plantain stem fiber and peacock feathers into beautifully handcrafted jewelry.

But this project is about more than just making things with our hands. It’s about shaping futures. Every item sold directly supports the mission of the Ovie Brume Foundation—empowering and educating the young people we serve. This isn’t just a marketplace; it’s a movement, where creativity meets purpose and where every purchase fuels opportunity.

Thank you for being part of this journey. As you explore our collection, know that each piece tells a story—one of passion, skill, and a future made brighter through your support.

Sponsor A Child Today

We seek sponsors to support beneficiaries of the scheme for the duration of their primary or secondary school education. This is a long-term commitment that ensures the project’s sustainability. A child is therefore supported throughout his/her stay in primary or secondary school. The sponsor will provide the funds to Ovie Brume Foundation on an annual basis, and the Foundation will administer the funds to the scholarship recipient. Sponsors are therefore encouraged to support a child for at least two years or the duration of his/her primary or secondary education.
