World Cancer Day 2020

Over the years, Ovie Brume Foundation has consciously played a major role in educating a wide range of audiences about the risk factors and prevention of Cancer. To commemorate #WorldCancerDay2020, the Foundation in partnership with George Kerry Life Foundation and Clearview Hospital educated school managers and teachers of Corona School, Victoria Island on prevention and risk factors of Breast and Cervical Cancer.

Mrs. Yetunde Sanni, Campaigns Manager for George Kerry Life Foundation educated participants on ways to conduct personal checks to aid early detection as well as emphasised on the need for Breast and Cervical Cancer tests at least once in 5 years to reduce the chance of developing cancer by 50%. Participants also had an opportunity to ask questions which led to further discussions on healthy living and Cancer prevention.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 30-50% of all Cancer cases are preventable with proper monitoring of body weight, alcohol, tobacco consumption, etc. Early diagnosis improves Cancer outcomes by providing care at the earliest possible stage. The Ovie Brume Foundation shall continue to create awareness about Cancers and other health issues through our various programs targeted at healthy living and well-being.
