FAQs

We seek sponsors to support beneficiaries of the scheme for the duration of their primary or secondary school education. This is a long-term commitment that ensures the project’s sustainability. A child is therefore supported throughout his/her stay in primary or secondary school.  The sponsor will provide the funds to Ovie Brume Foundation on an annual basis, and the Foundation will administer the funds to the scholarship recipient. Sponsors are therefore encouraged to support a child for at least two years or the duration of his/her primary or secondary education.

The goal of Project “No Excuses” is to mitigate the underlying factors that prevent outstanding public primary and secondary school children benefiting from educational opportunities. The PNE scholarship package therefore provides the following to beneficiaries:
1. Health Care, which is provided via a reputable health insurance company
2. Nutritional Support in form of food items for the students and their family on a quarterly basis;
3. Clothing which includes two sets of school uniforms and four sets of outing clothing on an annual basis;
4. Educational Supplies in form of books and stationary items as required each term;
5. Transport back and forth school.

For the duration of a student’s primary or secondary education a sponsor will be asked to support. This longterm commitment ensures the project’s sustainability. Sponsorship will be provided through OBF on an annual basis, the Foundation will act as a mediator between the sponsor and the child. The sponsor is also expected to attend annual stakeholder meeting at the Foundation with the beneficiary and the parent.

Each child is attached to a supervisor who monitors the child’s activities in school and at the foundation and provides a termly developmental report to the sponsor.

Project No Excuses Program is a direct and personal approach to supporting outstanding children from low-income communities who have demonstrated excellent academic potential but whose families are unable to meet the economic demands of their education. As a sponsor, you commit to contributing an annual fee to support a child with educational, health, clothing and nutritional support all through their primary and/or secondary school education.

When you sponsor a child through Project No Excuses you are not only investing in the life of a child but also the well-being of his or her family. When you agree to sponsor a child, you will receive a welcome package that will provide you with everything you need to know about your sponsored child and full details about the program. The kit will include a photo of your child, and a sheet with information about your sponsored child and his or her family. You will also receive regular updates throughout the year from your sponsored child.

If you have been attached to a beneficiary, Ovie Brume Foundation will send you an annual invoice to cover scholarship costs. Sponsors can then pay the invoice directly into the Project No Excuses account. Installmental payment options are also available.

Yes, sponsors can send gifts to their sponsored child, however all gifts must first be cleared with your contact person at Ovie Brume Foundation.

Corporate sponsors may offer renewable awards that cover a child’s education all through primary and/or secondary school. One-time scholarships and scholar-internships are also available.

The most important gift you give as a child sponsor is the gift of encouragement and support. The sponsorship fee covers the annual cost of primary/secondary school education as well as educational materials, basic health care services through a reliable HMO partner organization, monthly contributions to provide basic necessities for the family, and more importantly, the opportunity for beneficiaries to interact and connect with sponsors who also serve as mentors and role models. More than that, the knowledge of your continuous support gives the child hope for the future.

You can support your sponsored child until they have completed their primary and/or secondary school education. However, many sponsors develop a relationship with their sponsored child and continue to support their educational aspirations after they have completed primary and secondary education.

Sponsors are sent monthly reports about their sponsored child and detailed termly academic reports. We also send all sponsors a comprehensive annual program report.

We understand that your ability to sponsor a child may change over time. If you are unable to continue with your sponsorship commitment, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can find another sponsor for your child.
