Reflecting on a Year of Possibility, Growth, and Impact

At the Ovie Brume Foundation, every year serves as a reminder that when children and young people are given access to quality education, meaningful opportunities, and a supportive environment, they can achieve remarkable things. Throughout 2025, our work remained focused on empowering children and youth through holistic programs that nurture academic excellence, creativity, leadership, wellbeing, and livelihood skills. Across our centres and communities, we witnessed young people grow in confidence, discover their talents, strengthen their voices, and take meaningful steps toward building brighter futures.

Education continued to be at the heart of our interventions. Through English and Literacy, Mathematics and Numeracy, ICT, Financial Literacy, History, Civic Education, and Social Studies classes, beneficiaries were equipped with foundational knowledge, critical thinking skills, and the confidence needed to excel academically and beyond. Our literacy initiatives promoted reading culture and communication skills, while technology programs introduced students to digital literacy, artificial intelligence, and emerging opportunities in the digital economy. These efforts were strengthened through assessments, competitions, mentoring, and experiential learning opportunities that ensured learning remained engaging, relevant, and impactful.

Beyond the classroom, creativity and culture played a vital role in shaping the experiences of our beneficiaries. Through Dance and Drama, Art and Design, Music, Summer Camp, literary engagements, museum visits, exhibitions, and cultural excursions, young people were encouraged to explore their talents, celebrate their heritage, and express themselves confidently. One of the most significant highlights of the year was the stage adaptation of The Girl with the Louding Voice, performed during the commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child. The production reached more than 700 audience members and became a powerful platform for advocacy around girl-child education, gender equality, and social justice while showcasing the creativity and dedication of our young performers.

Our commitment to youth empowerment and livelihood development also expanded through vocational training, entrepreneurship education, financial literacy, career exposure programs, and internship placements. Young people participated in skill acquisition programs covering leatherwork, beadwork, carpentry, design, agriculture, and technology, while others gained practical workplace experience through structured internships and mentorship opportunities. These initiatives continue to bridge the gap between learning and employment, equipping beneficiaries with practical skills, confidence, and pathways toward economic independence.

Health, wellbeing, and personal development remained integral to our programming. Through sports, Taekwondo, nutrition support, health awareness initiatives, leadership development programs, and youth forums, beneficiaries were equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions, build resilience, and maintain healthy lifestyles. Our feeding initiatives, recreational activities, and mental wellness conversations reinforced the importance of nurturing the whole child and ensuring that no young person is left behind because of circumstance.

Environmental sustainability also remained a priority through our Eco Club and community engagement initiatives. Beneficiaries learned about urban agriculture, recycling, climate action, and environmental stewardship while participating in practical projects such as tree planting and plastic recycling campaigns. These experiences helped cultivate responsibility, teamwork, and an appreciation for creating sustainable communities.

None of this impact would be possible without the support of our partners, donors, volunteers, parents, alumni, and stakeholders who continue to believe in our mission. Through collaborative partnerships, advocacy engagements, fundraising initiatives, and community support, we have been able to expand opportunities for thousands of children and young people who depend on our programs each year.

As we reflect on the achievements of 2025, we remain inspired by the resilience, talent, and potential of every child and young person we serve. Their stories remind us why our work matters. Looking ahead, we remain committed to strengthening access to quality education, expanding opportunities for youth development, promoting creativity and innovation, and building communities where every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and lead.

Together, we are not only changing lives today, we are helping to shape the leaders, innovators, creators, and changemakers of tomorrow.
