Niger Delta Youth Centre

Niger Delta Youth Centre

The Niger Delta Youth Centre was established in 2016 with the sole aim of impacting the region’s specific challenges through interventions that meet the educational and social needs of our target market beneficiaries. The Centre offers tailored programmes focused on educational development, health awareness, sports, recreational activities and arts and culture.
With the establishment of the Niger Delta Youth Centre, the Foundation seeks to develop strategies as well as initiate partnerships capable of improving the standard of education in the Niger Delta.

Our Activities

EDUCATION

NDYC promotes literacy, academic excellence, and lifelong learning through literacy outreach programmes, reading-in-school initiatives, after-school classes, book clubs, visual learning sessions, scholarship awards, arts and crafts, and community outreach activities. The Centre’s scholarship programme supports academically outstanding learners through secondary education at no cost to their families, while visual learning activities inspire and motivate young people through positive and transformational stories.

CULTURE AND CREATIVITY

Through arts, crafts, music, sports, and creative engagement, NDYC nurtures the talents and confidence of young people. Members participate in creative art classes that encourage innovation, recycling, and turning waste into valuable products. The Centre also runs music clubs, football, tennis, taekwondo, and inter-house sports activities, helping children develop teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills while exploring their passions under professional guidance.

LIVELIHOOD

NDYC equips young people with practical and entrepreneurial skills that prepare them for economic independence. Programmes include ICT training, vocational and skill acquisition workshops, summer camps, internship placements, and leadership development opportunities. The Eco Earth Club further teaches environmental sustainability through tree planting and crop cultivation, while Chess and Scrabble Clubs strengthen strategic thinking, problem-solving, and intellectual development.

HEALTH

The Centre promotes health awareness and community wellbeing through sensitization campaigns, grassroots outreach programmes, and the annual commemoration of United Nations health-related days. In collaboration with partner organizations, NDYC provides education on health, hygiene, and wellness, empowering families and communities with knowledge that supports healthier living.

For over eight years, NDYC has remained committed to supporting children and families from low-income communities, empowering future leaders, and advancing the mission of the Ovie Brume Foundation through sustainable impact and community transformation.
